On the 17th of February, we decided to rent 2 motorbikes for the day ($4 US per bike) and made our way to the beautiful and breathtaking sand dunes. The ride to the sand dunes was great with lots of different landscapes to see along the way. There were stretches of beaches and oceans, lush greenery along the way and in other parts we even observed dry desert like conditions. Chris and Derek did a great job riding the bikes despite the extreme sun and heat that day. The heat was well worth the trip once we arrived at the white sand dunes.
There was a small lake in front of these dunes and the dunes themselves formed these peaks which was all quite picturesque. We were able to walk onto the dunes and once you climbed the top peak, oh what a sight! We were completely surrounded by hills of white sand all around and the sand was unspoiled – no footsteps, no nothing. Words & pictures can’t describe the images we saw.

Red Canyon
After the sand dunes, we made our way to the Red Canyon. The walk through the canyon was very short but the red rock formations were something else.

Red Sand Dunes
The last stop was the red sand dunes. These were a bit of a let down compared to the white sand dunes as it was much harder to see the actual dunes and peaks themselves. It was just a mass of redness all around you. What blew our minds was how two different areas (not too far from one another) could have such distinctive and different colored sand.

Fairy Springs
The day before we were to leave for Ho Chi Minh City, we headed to the Fairy Springs close to our resort.
The trek to get to the springs was the best part of the evening. We had to first walk through some shallow water combined with red sand. We continued walking, not knowing quite where we were going and after turning a corner, were surprised at the beautiful sight before us. On the left was this endless mass of red sand naturally formed by water and wind. Some of the sand had hardened due to the sun and formed these rock like formations. This continued for some time and we stopped numerous times to take pictures and just take it all in. We continued the trek to the springs and walked by some houses and finally reached our destination. The springs themselves were nothing special or out of the ordinary as we were expecting something a bit grander due to the beautiful walk to get to them. Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and enjoyed the walk through the sand back to the hotel while the sun was setting.
A perfect ending to a perfect day.

just a comment about fairy springs. i think the shallow water that we walked through was the 'springs', which was fed by the not-so-special water fall at the far end.
Mui Ne was also a great place for K and I as well. it was just so relaxing (other than the 2 hour walk to find dinner one night - but it was worth the $6)
